The Ampelosaurus was a type of long-necked sauropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period. What's fascinating about this gentle giant is that it had armored plates, called osteoderms, embedded in its skin. This made the Ampelosaurus one of the few sauropods with built-in body armor!
