Colossosuchus was a giant crocodile-like reptile that lived in what is now India over 200 million years ago, at the time when the very first dinosaurs were appearing. It could grow more than 8 metres long.

Scientists found fossils from at least 21 Colossosuchus in one place, including younger and older animals together. This might mean they lived in family groups, with grown-ups looking after the youngsters, a bit like a prehistoric crocodile creche!
