A key fun fact about Mapusaurus is that its name means "Earth lizard," derived from the Mapuche language, and it may have lived and hunted in groups. The discovery of a bone bed with multiple individuals suggested they may have lived or died together, possibly as part of a predator trap. Mapusaurus was a giant, 10-13 meter long carnivore from the Late Cretaceous period, closely related to the even larger Giganotosaurus.
