The Long-Tailed Chinchilla, native to South America, is known for its incredibly soft and dense fur. In fact, a chinchilla's fur is so thick and plush that it has about 60 hairs growing from a single follicle, compared to a human's 2 to 3 hairs per follicle! 

This luxurious fur not only makes them exceptionally cuddly but also helps them stay warm in their cold mountain habitats. Interestingly, because of this dense fur, chinchillas take dust baths instead of water baths to keep their coats clean and healthy, as their fur is so thick it would take ages to dry after a water bath.
