The Konik is a small horse breed originating from Poland. They're highly resilient and known for their hardiness and the ability to survive harsh conditions, owing to their primitive origins. Koniks closely resemble the now-extinct wild Tarpan horses, and breeding programs often aim to maintain these traits.

A Blue Dun Konik mare has a unique and beautiful coat color, often appearing as a smoky-gray or slate-gray hue. The term 'dun' refers to a coat color dilution characterized by lighter body color with darker points (mane, tail, and legs) and often a dorsal stripe running down the back. This coloration is thought to be one of the most ancient and primitive for horses, further reinforcing the Konik's connection to its wild ancestors.
