A secretary bird is a tall, ground-hunting bird of prey with extremely long legs, famous for stomping snakes and other small animals to death with its powerful feet instead of using its claws like most other birds of prey. It gets its name from the quill pens that secretaries used to wear tucked behind their ears, which the bird's crest of black feathers resembles.
