The Himalayan Tahr is a species of mountain goat that was introduced to New Zealand in the early 1900s for hunting purposes. While they are not native to New Zealand, Himalayan Tahrs have thrived in the country's mountainous terrain and are now considered a pest by many conservationists. They have a significant impact on the country's native flora and fauna, as they compete with native animals for food and habitat.

The New Zealand government has implemented a Himalayan Tahr Control Plan to manage their populations and reduce their impact on the environment. Despite being considered a pest, Himalayan Tahrs are also valued by hunters and outdoor enthusiasts for their impressive horns and challenging hunting experience.
