The Spotted Saddle Horse is an American horse breed especially known for two things: its beautiful spotted coat and its smooth way of moving. It is a gaited breed, meaning many Spotted Saddle Horses naturally perform comfortable four-beat gaits rather than relying only on the usual walk, trot and canter. This made them particularly popular as pleasure and trail-riding horses. 

Their coats can come in many combinations of white with darker colours such as black, brown or chestnut, so individual horses can look quite different from one another. Breed registration also requires qualifying spotted markings rather than simply being a solid-coloured gaited horse.
