Hatzegopteryx was a massive pterosaur, one of the largest flying animals ever to exist, with a wingspan of up to 12 meters (39 feet). It lived on a small island in Romania during the late Cretaceous period and was likely the apex predator there, despite the island's other dinosaurs being relatively small. 

Unlike many pterosaurs, Hatzegopteryx had a short, robust neck and a large, powerful skull, suggesting it was a powerful hunter.
