Meerkats are social mongoose relatives in the African deserts who don't need to drink water, getting all their moisture from their insect and fruit diet, and have dark eye patches that act like natural sunglasses to reduce sun glare while they watch for predators. They also have evolved resistance to some venoms, such as from scorpions, which they eat after preparing them by severing the venomous tail.
