The African Buffalo, often referred to as the Cape Buffalo, has never been domesticated, unlike other large animals in Africa. Despite its seemingly docile appearance, it's known to be unpredictable and can be very dangerous. In fact, among the "Big Five" game animals in Africa (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo), the African Buffalo is responsible for the most hunter injuries. Its strong herd instinct means if one individual is threatened, the entire herd might come to its defense.
