Wild sows are amazing mothers and the clever architects of the animal world! When it's time to have her piglets, a wild sow builds a cozy and secure nest called a 'farrowing den.' She carefully chooses a hidden spot, usually in a dense thicket or among tall grasses, and constructs her nest using twigs, leaves, and grass. 

Inside this shelter, she will give birth to her piglets and care for them until they are old enough to venture out with her into the wild. These farrowing dens are the wild sow’s way of keeping her family safe and warm!
