The Steppe mammoth, Mammuthus trogontherii, was the first mammoth to develop a dense coat because it lived in cold climatic conditions and had a very short tail. It was the species that preceded the famous woolly mammoth (M. primigenius) although of much larger size. Includes a bonus collectible/playing card.
