How It Works

  • Step 1: Add your items to cart. 
  • Step 2: Choose Layby at checkout as your payment option. 
  • Step 3: After placing your layby, we’ll reach out with our bank details.
  • Step 4: Secure your layby with a $10 non-refundable deposit within 3 working days. 
  • Step 5: Enjoy flexible payments! With final payment due 12th December 2025.  
  • Step 6: Once fully paid, your items are ready for collection or shipping!

Q1: What’s the minimum order amount to start a layby?
A: You can begin your layby with a minimum order of $100 NZD.

Q2: What information do I need to include in my order?
A:  Please ensure the full name, address, contact number, and email are included in your order, along with any delivery notes. If at any stage these details change, it is your responsibility to let us know before we send your Layby . 

Q3: What are the payment terms?
A: A $10 non-refundable deposit is required within 3 working days of placing your layby. We recommend making weekly or fortnightly payments, however you can make payments at your own pace.

Q4: How long does the Christmas layby last?
A: Our Layby starts on the day the order is placed, with the final payment due 12th December 2025. 

Q5: What payment methods can I use?
A: Payments can be made via Direct Bank Deposit

Q6: Can I add items to my layby later?
A: Yes, simply use the code ADD2LAYBY at checkout to add items - no additional deposit needed! Please ensure the full name, address, contact number, and email match your original layby. 

Q7: Can customers outside New Zealand place a layby?
A: Laybys are for New Zealand residents only. However, if you're interested, please contact us at sales@animalkingdoms.co.nz for special consideration.

Q8: When will my order be shipped?
A: Orders are shipped within 1-3 working days of receiving the final payment, unless otherwise instructed. 

Q9: Can I modify my layby before it’s paid off?
A: You can add items using the code ADD2LAYBY at checkout. While we prefer that you don’t remove items once they’re reserved, you can contact us at sales@animalkingdoms.co.nz, and we’ll consider adjustments on a case-by-case basis.

Q10: How do I check my layby balance?
A: You’ll receive updates via email or through our order status page whenever a payment is processed.

Q11: What if I need more time to complete my layby?
A: The layby lasts up to the 12th December. If you need an extension, reach out before it’s overdue - we’re happy to help. 

Q12: Can I cancel my layby and get a refund?
A: Yes, you can cancel anytime. An admin fee equal to the initial $10 deposit will be deducted from your refund.
