Young orangutans have a remarkably long childhood compared to other animals in the wild. They are known to stay with their mothers for up to eight years, one of the longest dependencies in the animal kingdom. During this time, they learn essential survival skills, such as foraging for food and building nests in the trees, through observation and mimicry. This close bond and extended learning period highlight the complexity of their social structures and intelligence.
