Deinocheirus was a bizarre dinosaur that lived around 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. Known for its massive, clawed hands, each of which was about 8 feet (2.4 meters) long, Deinocheirus was once a mystery to scientists, as for many years its fossils were limited to just those giant arms.
Later discoveries revealed that it was a large, omnivorous dinosaur that looked somewhat like a giant, humpbacked ostrich with a long neck and tail. It is believed that Deinocheirus used its huge claws for digging and pulling down branches to eat leaves, as well as possibly for defense against predators.
