Przewalski's horses are the last true wild horses, native to Mongolia, with stocky bodies, upright manes, and thick winter coats. They were once extinct in the wild but have been brought back from a small group of captive ancestors through breeding programs. They have a unique chromosome count (66) compared to domestic horses (64) and can be identified in the wild through genetic testing.
