The Sarcosuchus was an ancient relative of today's crocodiles, but it was much, much larger. In fact, Sarcosuchus could grow up to 40 feet long, making it about twice the length of a modern-day saltwater crocodile. This enormous reptile lived about 112 million years ago and had a long, heavy snout filled with sharp teeth, making it a powerful predator in its river home. It's amazing to think that such a giant version of a crocodile once roamed the Earth!
