Hyenas are large, dog-like, carnivores. They live in savannas, grasslands, sub-deserts and forests of Africa and Asia. Hyenas are pack animals whom are unmatched in scavenging prowess and have been known to trick and harass much larger predators into giving up their dinner. One of the few animals able to access nutrient rich bone marrow due to their powerful jaws, unlike eagles and vultures who have to drop bones from extreme heights to achieve the same.
