The Dilophosaurus is easily recognized by the two distinctive crests on its head, which give this dinosaur its name, meaning "double-crested lizard." Although it was relatively light and agile, this early Jurassic predator was a skilled hunter, using its speed and sharp teeth to catch prey. The Dilophosaurus is often remembered for its unique appearance and role as one of the earliest large carnivores in the dinosaur lineage.
