CollectA Quarter Horse Mare Deluxe 88843 The first horse this year, the Quarter Horse is well known both as a race horse and for its performance in rodeos, horse shows and as a working ranch horse. The compact body of the American Quarter Horse is well-suited to the intricate and speedy maneuvers. The Quarter Horse is an American breed of horse that excels at sprinting short distances. Its name came from its ability to outdistance other horse breeds in races of a quarter mile or less. CollectA this season added the Quarter Horse mare to its collection of stallions and foals. |

CollectA American Cream Draft Stallion 88846 The American Cream Draft is a rare draft horse breed, the only such breed developped in the United States that is still in existence. It is recognized by its cream color, known as "gold champagne", produced by the action of the champagne gene upon a chestnut base color, and by its amber eyes, also characteristic of the gene; the only other color found in the breed is chestnut. |
CollectA Knabtrupper foal - Leopard spotted 88848 The CollectA horse line is enlarged by the Knabtrupper foal this week, a Danish breed of horse with an unusual range of coat coloration. |
CollectA Russian Don Mare - Bright Chestnut 88847 This horse breed is from the steppes regions of Russia where the Don River flows, simply called the “Russian Don” . Utilized originally as cavalry horses for the Cossacks, these horses are currently used for under-saddle work and driving. |

CollectA Hereford Cow 88860 Hereford Cattle is a British breed of beef cattle that originated in the county of Herefordshire, in the West Midlands of England. They originally found great popularity among ranchers of the American Southwest, testament to the hardiness of the breed; while originating in cool, moist Britain, they have proven to thrive in much harsher climates on nearly every continent. |

CollectA Pig Sow 88863 And CollectA has upgraded its Farm Life collection with this important animal that was in need to be re-modelled. This week we are showing the CollectA our female pig, the sow. Colour and skin appearance with bristly hair all over the animal are much more realistic now with the new figurine. |
CollectA Boar 88864 To complement the sow announced earlier in the month, CollectA will release this handsome boar to accompany her in updating the CollectA Farm Range. |
CollectA White Rhinoceros 88852 The White Rhinoceros or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) is the largest extant species of rhinoceros. It has a wide mouth used for grazing and is the most social of all rhino species. There are two subspecies out of which the northern white rhinoceros is considered critically endangered and possibly extinct in the Wild. The name "white rhino" stems from a mistranslation between English and Dutch in which "wijd" (=wide; wide for wide mouth/square-lipped) was mistaken for "white". |

CollectA African Leopard 88866 The African Leopard makes a nice addition to the CollectA Wild Life line and CollectA's previous model the Amur Leopard. It is the most widespread leopard subspecies. Leopards are hunted illegally, and their body parts are smuggled in the wildlife trade for medicinal practices and decoration. Even though both belong to the Leopard family the difference in physical appearance and colouring is still very clear. |
CollectA Dama Gazelle 88865 The Dama Gazelle is a welcome new addition. It belongs to the critically endangered species from the Sahara Desert and the Sahel. As shown in the CollectA model the Dama Gazelle is white with a reddish-brown head and neck. Both sexes usually have medium-length ringed horns curved like an "S". |
CollectA Indian Crested Porcupine 88859 Another exciting new addition is the Indian Crested Porcupine. It is a large rodent, covered in multiple layers of modified hair called quills, with longer, thinner quills covering a layer of shorter, thicker ones. Take a close look at the wonderful way of how this has been interpreted in the CollectA model. With the real animal the quills are made of keratin and are relatively flexible. The base of the tail contains shorter quills with longer, hollow quills that the porcupine can rattle to produce a warning sound when threatened. Contrary to popular belief, Indian crested porcupines (like all porcupines) cannot shoot their quills. |
CollectA Zebra Foal 88860 CollectA is starting the Wild Life Line we are starting the new items with our Zebra Foal. The adult Zebra had been re-modelled last year. In this year's make-over the Zebra foal is added to the collection of novelties. |

Timber Wolf Howling 88844 Originally (before the proliferation of Homo sapiens and the development of farming and agriculture) the wolf was the most widespread land mammal on earth. Wolves became known primarily as forest animals, because humans had driven them out from populated areas to the backwoods. When re-working on the the CollectA models our wolves received a new colouring. So, we are presenting you with the new decoration of our two wolf figurines howling and hunting. |

CollectA King Crab 88851 This unique new addition is the King Crab. They are sometimes called "Monster Crab" simply because of their size. They can reach a carapace width of 28 cm and a leg span of 1.8 m. Because of their large size and the taste of their meat, many species are widely caught and sold as food. This figurine looks amazing! |
CollectA Minke Whale 88862 CollectA has really be expanding its Sea Life Collection, which has been receiving a lot of attention, and have now extended by announcing the Minke Whale. The Minke Whale is a type of baleen whale, the second smallest baleen whale. There are two very similar types of mink whale: the Common Minke Whale (or Northern Minke Whale) and the Antarctic Minke Whale (or Southern Minke Whale). The CollectA Mink Whale is the northern territory type indicated by the white patch on each flipper. |
CollectA Deluxe 1:20 Scale Elasmotherium 88858 The last addition to the Pre-Historic line in Deluxe size for this year is the Elasmotherium which means 'thin plate beast'. A Prehistoric mammal from the Late Pliocene to the Late Pleistocene era 2.5 Million years ago- 29,000 years ago. This was an extinct genus of rhinoceros found in Eurasia. It had longer legs than a modern rhino and would have had a horse-like gait. The great horn may have been used during mating or served a practical use of digging up plants and clearing away snow. A painting from the Rouffignac cave in France may represent the Elasmotherium suggesting that it was also found in Western Europe. |

CollectA Borealpelta 88841 It was an Early Cretaceous armoured dinosaur, a nodosaurid ankylosaur, that was discovered in oil sands mine north of Alberta Canada in 2011. It was presented to the public in 2017. The fossil was remarkable as it had preserved the osteoderms or armoured plates in their original positions and it even had the remains of keratin on the spikes and skin. It was even possible to say that the skin had been a reddish/brown colour in life with a lighter underbelly shading which is generally a camouflage scheme. The animal was probably washed out to sea in a flood and drowned and was quickly covered, hence retaining its shape in life. CollectA have modelled the toy to match the position of the fossil and restored the missing parts from the hips that were damaged in the finding. It is possibly the best preserved dinosaur fossil ever discovered. |
CollectA Edaphosaurus 88840 This comes from the Late Carboniferous to Early Permian era and lived some 300-280 million years ago. It is not a dinosaur but a Synapsid like Dimetrodon, it was a herbivore. It had a small head compared with its body size and a dense battery (or pavement) of teeth for crushing vegetation which gave it its name. Like dimetrodon it also had a sail on its back but this had cross bars projecting horizontally and the Edaphosaurus evolved their sails independently of dimetrodons. We have interpreted these cross bars as being strengtheners for supporting a much thicker and heavier sail than Dimetrodon had. |
CollectA Baryonyx Deluxe 1:40 scale 88856 with articulated jaw Baryonyx which stands for heavy claw. Like the earlier Deluxe model, CollectA have given the Baryonyx longer neural or back spines than the official reconstruction in the Natural History Museum at Kensington has. Their fossil has damaged neural spines but vertebrae discovered on the Isle of Wight some years ago suggest that the animal had much longer ones than was originally thought. They have based the arrangement of tail scutes on those of crocodilians and have also given him webbed back feet. |
CollectA Fukuiraptor 1:40 scale Fukuiraptor which means means 'thief of Fukui' and lived in the Early Cretaceous era around 128 million years ago in what is now Japan and possibly Australia. It was a theropod or carnivorous dinosaur believed to belong to the Megoraptoran clan of dinosaurs, although it has also been said to be related to allosaurs or tyrannosaurs. The jury is still out! When first discovered it was thought that the large hand claws were from the feet and so it was given the raptor name which is misleading. It was around 4.5 to 5 metres in length. |

CollectA Carnotaurus Deluxe 1:40 Scale 88842 The Carnotaurus is a Late Cretaceous dinosaur from 72-69 million years ago. A theropod carnivorous dinosaur and a member of the Abelisauridae family of dinosaurs, that seem to have colonised the southern continents. This one was found in Argentina in 1984. The fossil was very fine and included some skin impressions. which has enabled us to attempt to restore the actual appearance of the body in life. The skull was short and deep and the animal had a very muscular neck. The horns were probably used in mating rituals and would have been covered in keratin and longer than on the fossil. The arms are the shortest of any carnivorous dinosaur and were vestigial in life with immovable fingers. |
CollectA Caiuajara meaning Caiuá Tapejara (supreme sized model) 88839 Late Cretaceous 85 million years ago. Not a dinosaur but a tapejarid pterosaur from Brazil. Notable for its huge head-crest that changed shape as the animal matured. Both sexes appear to have had crests, although these may have been differently patterned. they were presumably used during mating rituals as species recognition or to show sexual maturity. The CollectA model shows an adult on the ground. The animal lived in a desert environment near a lake but it is not known what it ate. The jaws are toothless and it is assumed that it was either a herbivore or ate insects. The largest examples are thought to have had a wingspan of some 2.35 metres. |
