Make your own Christmas Ornaments

My daughter decided this year we are making our own Christmas ornaments, because she wanted a series of her favourite animals hanging on the tree! 

She decided on a woodland theme, and we will be making a fawn, arctic hare, squirrel and robin ornament, starting with the Schleich fawn. 

So, from one not-so-crafty mum to another, here's a simple and fun guide to making your own woodland animal Christmas ornaments. 

What we used ..... 

Glue gun and glue sticks

PVA Glue

Paint brush 

Glitter 

Clear Fillable Ornament (Found at spotlight, they have a few different sizes and shapes) 

Bottle Lid 

Your favourite little animal toy - This one is a Schleich Fawn 

Step one - Glitter and glue 

Pour some PVA Glue into the Clear Fillable Ornament. using a soft paint brush to spread it around evenly. 

Pour in the glitter and cover the glue completely. Then empty any excess glitter by gently tapping the ornament.  

Step two - More Glitter and glue 

Cover the outside edge of the bottle cap in glue and roll it in glitter until fully covered. Let it dry for a few minutes.

Cover the top of the bottle cap in more glue and glitter, we did green and silver. Make sure to gently tap off the excess. 

Step three - A bit more Glitter and glue 

 We added a little bit of glitter to the fawns hooves, then using the hot glue gun, attached the lid of the bottle to the ornament lid, then finally the fawn to the lid.

Step four - Almost done! 

Make any touch ups and then gently (an angle can be useful here) put your ornament together. 

Use some twine, ribbon or string to hang your ornament and it is complete! 

Last minute we decided to add some ribbon to the base using the hot glue gun, as we had some spare ribbon with a stag and Christmas tree on it that looked perfect. 

This ended up being a pretty easy craft, and a fun activity!
